Happening Labor Day Weekend, the Spa City Blues Society of Hot Springs, Arkansas will host the 17th Annual Hot Springs Blues Festival at the Hill Wheatley Plaza.
On Thursday, August 29th, Missouri native and Guitarist/Vocalist Samantha Fish will kick off the Spa City Blues Society’s Official Pre-party event at The Ohio Club beginning at 9pm. Representatives will be on-hand selling Spa City Blues Society merchandise. This is a FREE event.
On Saturday, August 31st, gates will open at 2:30pm. Shortly after the gates open, local Blues/Rock act the John Calvin Brewer Band will take to the stage to perform for concert-goers. Following the band will be the 2013 International Blues Challenge Solo/Duo Winner Little G Weevil, the 2013 International Blues Challenge Band winner the Selwyn Birchwood Band, Canadian Jazz and Blues Vocalist Shakura S’aida, and American Blues act the Zac Harmon Band.
On Sunday, September 1st, the 17th Annual Hot Springs Blues Festival will continue when gates open at 1:30pm. The Spa City Blues Society’s local International Blues Challenge solo/duo representatives Salt & Pepper will help to open the day’s festivities. Salt & Pepper will be followed by the Spa City Blues Society’s local International Blues Challenge band representatives the Gil Franklin Band, Memphis Vocalist and Harmonica player Brandon Santini, and local Hot Springs’ Blues act The Hump Night Blues Band. Following will be the Blues/Rock act the Bart Walker Band. In the 2012 International Blues Challenge, the band would place 2nd in the competition with Vocalist/Guitarist Bart Walker winning the coveted title of “Best Guitar Player”.
During both days of the festival, artists will be on hand, showcasing and selling their artwork, jewelry, and more. Food and beverage vendors will also be on hand during the festival. No outside beverages are allowed.
Closing out the 17th Annual Hot Springs Blues Festival will be the powerful Blues/Rock trio Southern Hospitality. Combining the electrical forces of Lap Steel player Damon Fowler, High-Octane Boogie Pianist/Vocalist Victor Wainwright, and Eclectic Blues Guitar Slinger JP Soars, the trio formed to create a new and unique style to the Blues.
Shortly before the festival comes to an end, after-parties will be taking place inside the hottest live music venues in the area Friday-Sunday night. Alabama natives and Blues act 2Blu & The Lucky Stiffs will help kick-off The Big Chill after-party beginning at 9pm. The Ohio Club and Fat Jack’s will host after-parties. Details will be announced shortly regarding the after-parties as soon as they become available.
