TAMPA – KAM-BABS Promotions will be holding a free, 2-day, outdoor benefit concert on August 3rd & 4th to help raise money for the Radio Bar and Grill and WPRN 102.1 fm “Party Pirate”.
Earlier this month on July 10th a bomb was thrown through the back door of the Radio Bar and Grill, which also houses the broadcasting studio for WPRN 102.1 fm, “The Party Pirate”. Both the bar itself and the WPRN 102.1 fm studio incurred thousands of dollars in damages due to the explosion.
Both the Radio Bar and Grill and WPRN 102.1 fm have been strong supporters of the local Tampa Bay music scene. WPRN regularly plays songs from local artists on their station, and airs several shows that spotlight local artists.
The Radio Bar and Grill has reopened since the explosion, and WPRN 102.1 fm has resumed transmission once again as well. Though both entities are back in operation, they are far from operating at 100%. Much more work and money is needed to get both operations back up to 100%.
The weekend long “Rebuild The Radio Bar” benefit concert event will take place on the grounds of the Radio Bar and Grill which is located at 2806 E. Busch Blvd, Tampa, Florida 33612.
The event will feature live performances from 20 bands on an outdoor stage, food provided by Flossie’s BBQ, a 50/50 drawing, raffles, auctions, biker games and festivities, pool tournaments, and plenty of other surprises.
One of the auctions that will be taking place at the event on Sunday will be “Get a Date With Ben”. The winner of the auction will be taken out on a date by Ben Colbert, lead singer for the thrash metal band, Riptorn.
