1. A little touch of color: Touch Back by Colormark, is a temporary color marker that is good for touching up roots and is especially convenient for use around the hairline. While it doesn’t flake off as promised, it does rub off. It will get onto a scarf if you’re wearing one, and if you scratch your scalp it will get onto your hands and fingernails. One product statement claims that it holds color until you shampoo it out, but unless you shampoo daily, that’s not exactly true for everyone. On this reviewer, it needed to be reapplied the following day, but it is great for emergency touch-ups and more effective than similar touch-up products on the market.
The Touch Back marker is available in Rich Black, Dark Brown, Medium Brown, Light Brown, Blonde, Golden Blonde, Light Auburn and Dark Auburn. Touch Back has the suggested retail price of $29.95. For more information, visit www.touchbackgray.com.
2. Gray away spray: If you need to use something between colorings or if you’ve let your grays go a little too long, Gray Away Root Concealer Instant Gray Root Touch-Up Spray is great for when you need to cover more areas of hair. (It’s not recommended for very short hair, facial hair, eyebrows or body hair). It has a nozzle that helps you target color to the intended area, so if you are spraying your hairline, when used correctly, it doesn’t cause a problem.
Gray Away is said to be sweat-resistant and will not come out until shampooed. This reviewer didn’t find that to be true. It will rub off onto scarves and pillowcases. The product is supposed to last for 40 spray applications, but that depends on the coverage area. Gray Away is only available in four shades: Black/Dark Brown, Light Brown, Blonde and Auburn, so it won’t be a perfect match for everyone.
Gray Away has the suggested retail price of $9.99 and is available at Rite Aid, CVS, Bed, Bath & Beyond and other retailers, as well as online at www.grayaway.com.
3. Wash that gray right out of your hair: Touch Back Plus Color Shampoo renews color with a sulfate-free Microfoam layer of color to match color-treated hair and provide protection against UVA/UVB rays oxidation and fading. It does add color and also works fine to tone down grays. You need to wash your hands with soap afterwards. It will stain fabrics and bathroom surfaces.
Touch Back Plus Color Shampoo is available in Rich Black, Dark Brown, Medium Brown, Light Brown, Ash Brown, Golden Blonde, Light Auburn and Dark Auburn. Touch Back Plus Color Shampoo has a suggested retail price of $29.95.
