875 books read by a 5-year-old girl in Louisiana is making it hard for her school to keep up with her pace, ABC News reports May 30.
T.S. Cooley Elementary Magnet School in Lake Charles has a brilliant student by the name of Sophia Moss who has read 875 books so far this year.
“I told Sophia, I said we’re going to have to order more books for T.S. Cooley Library because she’s read so many of them and enjoys so many of them,” school librarian, Mary Lanier, said.
Sophia’s love for reading began when she dived into Elmo books when she was 2-and-a-half years-old, her father confirmed. Another factor leading up to 875 books read by the young student had to do with learning her phonics and LeapFrog books. She learned quick and can read far beyond expectation, obviously.
“I just like reading,” Sophia said. “Reading makes me happy. I read like six a night,” Sophia said.
