I recently had the pleasure of attending a Disney Agent Education Program at Walt Disney World in Florida and stayed on property at Disney’s Yacht Club resort. I was very excited to get this opportunity since we have several schools (principals, teachers, and students and families) from the Huntsville and Madison County area attending a conference in July 2013 who will also be staying at the Yacht Club.
This was my first time staying at this Deluxe Disney property, and I was quite impressed! Situated along the lake and decorated with nautical motif throughou, you feel as though you have stepped right into Nantucket. There is even a “captain” on hand to greet you when you arrive!
In addition to the lush grounds and East Coast beach details, the rooms at Disney’s Yacht Club are quite spacious with approximately 400 square feet – plenty of room for family’s of up to five (six if you have a child under the age of three who can sleep in a crib). One of my favorites about the rooms is the fact that the tub and toilet are separate from the dual sink area allowing multiple people to get ready at the same time!
While parents will definitely like the size of the rooms and the dining options available – Disney’s signature restuarant, Yachtsman Steakhouse, along with other more casual restaurants and even quick service dining options, kids (of all ages) will LOVE the pool area- Stormalong Bay! This sand-bottom pool spans three acres and provides hours and hours of fun with the lazy river area, waterslides coming through a wrecked ship, and much, much more! I am sure some parents have a hard time even getting their kids to leave this fantastic pool area to visit the theme parks!
Speaking of theme parks, Disney’s Yacht and Beach Clubs are within a very short walk or boat ride to both Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Transportation to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom is offered via Disney’s bus transportation. So even though this deluxe resort is not located on the monorail system, it is perhaps a perfect choice for guests visiting Disney who love Epcot or like my family who’s favorite park is Hollywood Studios!
So, if you are considering a Disney Deluxe resort on your visit to the Happiest Place On Earth, check out the Yacht Club or its sister resort right next door, Disney’s Beach Club… you won’t be disappointed.
