Cedar Hill Pet Memorial Project Inc. is a wonderful organization that was responsible for saving a historic pet cemetery located in North Texas.
On Saturday, May 31st, Cedar Hill Pet Memorial Project Inc., held a Dedication Event for the new War Dog Monument in Cedar Hill that was installed at the Cedar Hill Pet Memorial Park. The event which was held at the Cedar Hill Recreation Center and at the Cedar Hill Pet Memorial Park was a celebration of the unveiling and installation of the beautiful bronze statue named “Enduring Valor” created by California based artist, Susan Bahary. The monument will represent civic pride and provide a place for visitors to the park to pay tribute to all handlers and their canine partners who serve in the military and local law enforcement. The monument is also meant to honor that special bond between humans and dogs.
There were a total of four events during that morning: the ceremony which was held indoors at the Cedar Hill Recreation Center, an exciting K-9 demonstration, followed by a 60+ vehicle processional which included police squad cars, North Texas Patriot Guard Riders and 30-some civilian cars as well. The final event was the private processional at the Pet Memorial Park where the Board of Directors laid roses on the graves of their own pets in recognition of how personal our mission was in saving this historic community asset. A detail of five police officers representing all K-9 handlers carried the statue into the Park and placed him on his final duty post overseeing the Park.
