As you can see by the photo, there are two Dr. Hauschka neem oil products that I was very happy to be hosted to experience. I will be writing about the hair oil at a later date, but I wanted to let you know right away about what I consider the miracle of its Neem Nail Oil. What is neem oil? I wondered myself. Wiki describes it as, “(A) vegetable oil pressed from the fruits and seeds of the neem (Azadirachta indica), an evergreen tree which is endemic to the Indian subcontinent and has been introduced to many other areas in the tropics.” With lots of fatty acids, it’s quite nutritious as a cosmetic ingredient!
Dr. Hauschka is a German skin care/cosmetic brand that has been utilizing the highest standards of organic and bio-dynamically grown plants in its ingredients for 40 years.
So, my nails were deplorable . . . soft, peeling, ridged, never growing. A lot of it’s my own fault: I type all day. I travel all over the world on drying airplanes. I don’t drink enough water. I use a super-stripping nail polish remover, because I don’t have the patience to sit around all day. I generally do my own manicures. Have you noticed the nail files available to the general public have gotten really sub-standard in the past few years? They’re thin and cheap, shredding nails to the quick. No wonder so many people are getting gel manicures and acrylics.
I had tried everything: chamois buffers, waxes, vitamins, eating lots of oysters, oyster-shell calcium pills (which my late grandfather — a surgeon — had recommended). Nothing was really helping.
I’ve been using Dr. Hauschka Neem Nail for a week, twice a day, on both my finger and toe nails. My fingernails, which were in the worst condition, have responded beautifully! They’re growing super rapidly, nice and thick. They haven’t peeled or split. My cuticles had been so nasty, I was under a doctor’s care for them over a period of months. Now they are smooth and pretty! I’m very relieved. You can’t feel glamorous or particularly posh if your nails look like you stuck your hand in a blender.
This is what they say about it: “Cracked, brittle nails, soft nails or damaged cuticles are often the result of an unbalanced diet, harsh detergents, nail polish and nail polish remover. Dr. Hauschka Neem Nail Oil is a special preparation for the care and protection of cuticles, fingernails and toenails. Leaves of the Indian Neem tree and chamomile flowers combine to soften cuticles and encourage strong, healthy nails. In cases of nail loss, Neem Nail Oil soothes and nurtures new growth.”
