As the largest Latino professional organization in the US, ALPFA expects to draw 3,000 attendees to its 2013 National Convention to be held between August 3rd and August 7th at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Washington, DC.
ALPFA is the premier business organization to promote Latino leadership in the global market, and as such, it is in a key position to open doors and opportunities for thousands of Latino executives in this country to a wide variety of professional programs, seminars, and workshops.
Two nights ago, ALPFA’s Michigan Chapter organized its annual Pre-Convention event at BlackFinn in Royal Oak in preparation to attend this year’s National Convention. On this occasion, keynote speaker was Greg Peters, Founder of The Reluctant Networker, LLC, who spoke about the importance of networking strategies to succeed in today’s business environment.
Attendees to ALPFA Michigan’s event included executives from Mercedes Benz, KPMG, Dow Chemical, Chrysler, MES Consulting Services, Blue Cross-Blue Shield, and General Motors, among others.
With the increasing numbers of professionals from all over Latin America, ALPFA’s influence is growing around the US, and its annual National Convention is one of the most powerful events within the Latino business community.
This year, ALPFA expects to attract a its largest number of professionals, corporate executives, and procurement and supplier-diversity recruiters from the private and public sectors, as well as college students from across the country.
ALPFA’s National Convention provides an unparalleled opportunity to connect not only with top Latino leaders, but also with young Latino talent. So, almost 100 companies — from retail, banking, automotive, marketing and technologies to pharmaceuticals and most major financial institutions — use this opportunity to look for talented, motivated and dynamic individuals to add to their professional teams.
ALPFA also helps Latino Veterans connect with corporate America through its Veterans Initiative. During the annual convention, they invite military service veterans to attend their Career Fair and University Expo on Tuesday, August 6th, free of charge.

During the Women of ALPFA event, Anna Escobedo-Cabral, Unit Chief for Strategic Communications in the External Relations Division of the Inter American Development Bank will officially receive the 2013 ALPFA Latina Excellence Award.
