Increasingly-troubled actress Amanda Bynes, 27, accidentally soaked her dog in gasoline and set her own pants on fire on the evening of July 22 while starting a small blaze on a stranger’s driveway in Thousand Oaks, Calif., multiple credible sources and witnesses allege.
Witness Andrew Liverpool reported he observed the 27-year-old Easy A star laying down near someone’s lawn with her pant leg on fire and a gas can nearby with a piece of cloth on top of it that was also on fire. She was seen rolling around to put the fire out.
Police and fire responded to the mysterious fire call, and later apprehended Bynes near a T.O. liquor store. Bynes had apparently hopped in a cab during the confusion surrounding her fire-setting, as more and more passers-by stopped at the scene. She ended up at the liquor store, and reportedly went inside to wash gasoline off her dog. Earlier, while still at the scene, a witness says Amanda indicated her dog had gotten burned.
Amanda Bynes 5150 Hold: Amanda Bynes Dog Burned in Bizarre Driveway Fire Incident?
At the liquor store, surveillance footage shows a woman in a disheveled wig carrying a dog and looking around frantically as she walks in. Suddenly, she makes a beeline for a restricted area behind the counter, and was promptly followed by an employee. The employee says he found her washing her dog in the sink and smelled gasoline; when he approached Bynes, she “freaked out” and turned to leave immediately. The woman presumed to be Amanda Bynes is then seen on camera exiting the convenience store with her dog still in her arms.
Soon after, the bizarre series of incidents ultimately concluded with Bynes being taken into custody by police who deemed her either a threat to herself or others, or clearly disabled and in need of evaluation, or both. The actress was hospitalized on an involuntary 5150 hold Monday night and there are reports* doctors want to hold Bynes for at least two weeks for an extended evaluation of her mental state. The word schizophrenic is being used loosely at this point, but we have no idea if this is based on credible information from any legitimate sources.
Amanda Bynes Dog Safe With Child Star’s Parents After 5150 Hold Ordered
TMZ also reported this week that Amanda Bynes’ poor little dog is now safe with her parents, who have visited their daughter as she undergoes psychiatric evaluations and possible treatment at an area hospital. It should be noted Thousand Oaks is Bynes’ hometown, and both she and her parents reportedly own homes nearby.
TMZ says Bynes has no association to the elderly homeowner of the driveway she used to set her fire, and that her parents have said they “will not pay for the mess Amanda has made”, likely referring to any driveway repairs deemed necessary at that property. The woman’s house was not damaged.
