Honda’s new 2014 Honda Odyssey, the new Accord and Cross Tour all now come loaded with Honda Motor Corp’s new HondaLink® technology. This services allows us to hear our favorite radio stations, podcasts, news, audiobooks, Facebook & Twitter feeds while driving! I took a test drive and reviewed this integration app that keeps us connected with our personalized Internet services even when we are on the road.
HondaLink connects Aha radio app, by Harmon, to the car. Aha has thousands of “stations” to choose from, giving you radio like access to podcasts, audio books, Internet radio, on demand music, news, weather, restaurants, Facebook and Twitter. With HondaLink, you access the Aha stations directly through the car’s touch screen display. Rather than taking your eyes off the road trying to turn on a podcast, access your music, or check your Twitter or Facebook feeds on your smart phone, you can access it directly in the car’s control panel and hear it through the sound system. HondaLink with Aha will even read your Facebook posts and Twitter feeds while you are driving! You can even mark “Like” or “Dislike” without having to pick up your smart phone.
The goal of the HondaLink system are to keep you connected wherever you are, safely. I tested this out over several days and found that using my time in the car to hear Facebook and Twitter feeds saved me time from accessing the services at a later point.
Beyond HondaLink, Honda has taken great care in using other technology to keep us safe, including lane assist (camera views of blind spots), break warnings when you are too close to an object and automated safe distance features when using cruise control. Very impressive.
