A free and family-friendly event, Art Around Adams 2013: Ten Years on the Avenue! will showcase numerous visual and performance artists, stretching from Oregon street in Normal Heights to Vista street in Kensington. More than 100 businesses will change into impromptu art galleries and/or performance arenas for the day.
The event consists of over nine performance areas (including a new “Kids Zone”) featuring music, performance art, creation of large scale murals, circus performers, dance, theatre, projection art, intergalactic superhero wrestling, comedians, a CD release party, and a free screening of the Disney/Pixar film Monsters, Inc.
“This is our tenth annual event and we’re raising the bar on everything,” said Executive Producer Adam Rosen. “In 2004 we premiered with only a few artists and attendees. The event has now grown to host over 100 performers and artists, welcoming over 20,000 attendees.” Rosen added,”Expect the unexpected, eclectic diverse performances and exhibits filled with headlining acts from start to finish will line the two mile stretch of Adams Avenue.”
