Fans of Coast to Coast AM Radio will be happy to hear that Art Bell will once again be manning the helm of a nightly paranormal radio talk-show beginning September 16, according to an Associated Press report on July 29, 2013.
Bell, known for his sometimes-controversial in-depth interviews, was sorely missed by fans when he left Coast to Coast Am Radio in 2002. Fans of the popular radio program complained even more when Bell’s replacement, George Noory, started veering away from paranormal topics and covering more of the mainstream news and he’s been accused more than once of pandering to his advertisers.
It’s no secret that there’s no love lost between Noory and Bell and the big question will be: Will Bell’s new program bring about the demise of Coast to Coast AM Radio?
According to the AP report, Bell’s new program, “Art Bell’s Dark Matter” will be completely unique and uncensored and focus strictly on the paranormal.
“He’ll talk about things like UFOs, ghosts, near-death experiences and weird aspects of science. He’ll do interviews and take calls from viewers.”
There’s only one drawback. “Dark Matter” will only be available on Sirius Radio. Michael Harrison, publisher of “Talkers”, a magazine that covers the radio industry, doesn’t think that will hinder the show’s success, though.
Harrison predicts that over the coming years the combination of Art Bell’s old-time radio roots and the subject matter will make the show a huge success.
“He’ll be looked at as one of the veteran, old masters,” Harrison said. “He’s the real deal when it comes to marching to the beat of a different drummer.”
Bell says he’s looking forward to the new platform on Sirius Radio. “It seems to me they are the next step in technology,” he said. “I’ve always been a technological junkie. The mix of what they’re giving me, the freedom that they’re giving me, is priceless.”
