August represents what’s essentially the last hurrah for the summer at Colorado’s ski resorts, though there are some residual things to do up there after Labor Day (be sure to check back here for all of it).
Then we start gearing up for winter (yeah!) with all the ski sales, expos and season pass sales. Next thing you know, it’s October and we’re ready to roll, or slide, in this case.
Anyway, here’s a quick overview of what’s happening at Copper Mountain in August, besides the daily activities and summer fun park-type stuff you can do up there.

Copper Triangle, conquer Parkinson’s disease, Aug. 2-4: At 8 miles with over 6,000 ft. in elevation gain spanning three mountain passes, this ride has long been considered one of Colorado’s classic Rocky Mountain road rides.
Guitar Town, featuring some of the best guitarists in the world, Aug. 9-11: Some of the world’s greatest guitarists come together for the 9th annual festival, featuring free guitar workshops, free live music, a beer garden, the ArtGuitar silent auction and kids’ music activities.
Adventure Xstream, mental and physical multi-sport endurance challenge, Aug. 9-11: Mountain bike, kayak, trek and navigate 25 or 50 miles of this expansive, challenging course.
Woodward at Copper, Summer Weekend Camp, Aug. 10-11: Designed for never-ever’s and advanced skiers and riders alike. Participants spend a half-day on snow and a half-day in the newly renovated Barn with Woodward coaches. Ages 8 and up.
Warrior Dash, benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Aug. 16-18: The world’s largest obstacle race series has hosted over 150,000 participants worldwide and has collectively helped to raise over $5 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. 10,000 runners are expected this year at the Copper Mountain stop.
Powdr Shot, first-ever nationwide summer biathlon series, Aug. 24-25: Participants must complete an air rifle target challenge, combined with either trail running or mountain biking.
Genuine Jazz and Wine, meet and mingle with jazz legends, feat. Rick Braun, Aug. 23-25: Known for its scenic splendor, internationally renowned talent and diverse wine selection, this unique fan-based experience adds up to a soothing mountain getaway.
Copper Country, Kenny Rogers headlines this Labor Day tradition, Aug. 30 through Sept. 1: Copper Country is a free Labor Day family festival celebrating the best of the Western American spirit. This year’s lineup includes headliner Kenny Rogers.
