It is no secret that the NFL values healthy lifestyle choices, as can be seen by their Play 60 program. The Indianapolis Colts embrace this mission by combining physical activity with fun football festivities this year. On August 24, the Colts will kick off the 2013 season with their first ever Colts Back to Football Run. The race is a part of the larger Back to Football Run Series started by the NFL.
The Colts hope this new event will bring together a mixture of 2,500 football fanatics and runners. Registered runners will have the opportunity to complete the Colts Back to Football 5K (3.1 miles) and the Colts Play 60 Fun Run (0.5 mile). The 5k race is scheduled to commence at Lucas Oil Stadium, ending on the 50-yard line of the Colts’ playing field. Colleagues of local businesses may also compete as a team within the Corporate Challenge.
After completing the race, fans may enjoy a number of festivities at the post-race tailgate party. The event takes place prior to the Colts’ preseason home finale. Fans who register for the race will be offered an opportunity to purchase tickets to the game before they go on sale to the public.
