“It’s priceless, I’m David Alligood and my daughter’s name is Shannon. She will be attending GA Gwinnet College in Lawrenceville.” Sugar and spice and everything nice, tied with heartstrings. Sending your children off to college and you may have been thinking what would be a special way to send your child off with something to remember.
It’s an exciting time
Fishing is an incredible way to spend those last few moments before they head off to school. How much of their lifetime time do children spend in school? Long enough. How much time of their lifetime do your children spend in your arms, looking back the moments seem fleeting and never long enough.
Kids and teens who spend time outdoors become high-performance learners and score higher on standard tests
“We were at a private pond in Walton County. She has always been Daddy’s Girl when it comes to the outdoors. She killed her first deer last year, a huge 8pt, weighing 174-pounds field dressed weight, “ Shannon’s dad tells the story proudly.
Sending your son or daughter away to college is never as easy as it looks
“I knew there were some nice fish in the pond, and hoped we would get a couple. Shannon has never caught anything over a couple of pounds, and the look on her face when the biggest one really started pulling the drag was priceless! I let her catch all three fish, and she said the adrenalin rush was as good as killing the buck. Unforgettable memories.”
“How do you feel about Shannon going off to college”
“Hmm, my sentiments about sending her off to college. My wife and I are so happy for her. She is our second of three children. Our emotions are mixed of course, happy to see her becoming a young adult, knowing we will miss our “little girl.” But we are so proud of her and what life holds in store for her. Of course, no matter where life takes her, she and her sister will always be our little girls,” Shannon’s dad answers bitter sweetly.
One minute you are sending them off to kindergarten, and the next moment you are so proud that you have inspired your children and they are capable of going on without you. It’s a “rite of passage” every teen dreams of. Parenting is bittersweet. You know as a parent you have done your job, when you work yourself out of a job. Spend the time while you have them outdoors and make memories going fishing.
