Beatle fans gathered together for an afternoon of music of the Fab Four at the gorgeous Sheraton Sonoma County Hotel in Petaluma, CA, July 28 for the Marin Sonoma Beatles Festival. You can see photos from the day in the slide show.
The music was provided by the Silver Beatles, a Southern California tribute group who played two sets, one dressed as the early Beatles complete with collarless suits (video link), and the second in costumes from the “Sgt. Pepper” era.
Also providing music was Pepperland, a great group out of nearby Sebastapol that opened the show and did a fantastic job with their own interpretations of the music. (You can see them perform a clip of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” on this page.) British comic Griffin Daley filled the gap between the bands, including a story of a personal encounter with John Lennon and George Harrison.
The fans in attendance included several who said they saw the Beatles at either the Cow Palace, as Herb and Elfi Mitschen, Charmaine Boyd and Susan Lamb did (picture in slide show), or at Candlestick Park.
There were also booths from Beatlesradio.com’s Fab Four Store.com with Beatles clothing and various items for sale. One merchant, LabbeyRd, featured T-shirts with dogs and cats on the Abbey Road crossing. Fans could also have their pictures taken with Beatles cutouts, which were given away at the end of the show.
