In this modern world, that has many forms of spiritual, intellectual, and moral darkness in it; God’s light and love is using many ways to pierce the darkness and reach out to people with an invitation to develop a close relationship with God and become part of His spiritual kingdom of light.
Although there are many people who like living in the darkness so much that they refuse to come to the light (like those described in John 3:19-20), there are some people who become interested in following God’s light and love to the point of accepting God’s invitation to ask God to forgive them for breaking God’s laws and then asking Jesus Christ to become their personal Savior and spiritually apply His sacrificial atonement on the cross to their lives.
When people do that many wonderful things happen. The first of these things is that God forgives them for breaking His laws and removes the sentence of spiritual death that they deserve for breaking God’s laws.
The second thing that God does is to take them out of the Devil’s spiritual kingdom of darkness and transfer them into God’s spiritual kingdom of light as described in Colossians 1:13.
The third thing that happens is their spiritual nature comes alive as God sends the Holy Spirit to live inside of them to both transform them into becoming God’s newly restored creation and to give them the insight and power to live according to God’s principles of living found in the Bible.
An important part of a growing Christian’s life is for them to daily read the Bible to learn God’s principles for living and talk with God in prayer about their problems. As Christians do those things, they can develop a close relationship with God that will help them overcome the many problems that they will face in the rest of their journey of life.
Another important part of a Christian’s life is to find a good Christian Church to attend so they can worship God, hear good messages from the Bible, and develop some good Christian friendships with people there who can help them overcome the many problems that new Christians have in living in our modern society.
As new Christians are using the insight and power of the Holy Spirit to live according to God’s principles, it will transform their lifestyle and this transformation will be noticed by those people who they interact with during their daily activities.
While some people may like what they see, others may not like it. When people ask about what happened to them, it will give the new Christian a chance to tell them about what Jesus has done for them and how following God’s principles has made a big difference in their life.
There may be some friends who don’t like the change and turn away maybe because they are afraid that this change may rub off on them and that will ruin their worldly lifestyle.
Another problem that new Christians may have is that the Devil doesn’t like losing people from his spiritual kingdom of darkness and having them go into God’s spiritual kingdom of light. Consequently, the Devil may send his spiritual forces of darkness to throw many forms of fleshly temptations or demonic deceptions at Christians in an attempt to distract them from following their Christian lifestyle and get them back into their worldly lifestyle-which will ruin their spiritual life.
When these things start to happen, the Holy Spirit will sound an inner alarm that warns Christians of the spiritual attack and tells them to get some help from their Christian friends at their church. Those Christians can educate them about spiritual warfare, how to use their spiritual weapons described in Ephesians 6:10-18, then they can use the name of Jesus Christ to bind the attacking spiritual forces of darkness, and then through the power of the Holy Spirit they can cast them into the abyss/lake of fire to stay there forever.
The more that Christians use God’s power to overcome those attacks, the more confident they will become in using God’s insight and power to overcome the many other problems that they will face in the spiritual journey of their Christian life.
