Maybe you can believe the names that are on the list but they are listed because they just didn’t do many or only did one vampire role. These stars aren’t really known for their vampire performances either, take Jack Palance he was Dracula in a TV movie but when we think of Dracula, the names Lugosi or Lee come to mind. This is just fun a list to look at some of our favorite classic actors and their vampire roles.
There are many one or few role vampire actors out there as there are many actors who have played in so many vampires movies. The list is long in cinema but with this list only 4 are on this list because they aren’t known for their vampire roles and probably in their careers wanted to forget about their roles.
So the actors on this list are known for their other roles but once in their career, they put some fangs and enthralled fans. These classic actors from Bogie to Louise Fletcher have once played vampires. Enjoy the list and if you haven’t seen the movies that they were in find the movies and have a movie night!

Mr. Bogart starred as a bloodsucker in the movie, “The Return of Dr. X.” The movie was made in 1939 and it’s the only horror movie that Humphrey Bogart was in. It’s a film about a reporter who is looking into gruesome murders where the blood is drained.
Supposedly Bela Lugosi was ask for the role but he turned it down. Bogie didn’t turn it done because it was his friend Vincent Sherman’s directorial debut which was a nice thing to do for your pal.
Not many of us think of Bogie as a horror icon or really a vampire for that matter because like stated before he was only in one and that was this one, “The Return of Dr. X.” So Bogie fans if you’ve never seen it, you should just because it’s a rare performance.
In 1975, David Niven played Dracula in a film called, “Old Drac.” The movie on IMDb at the moment scores the movie at 3.2. Doesn’t sounds like it worked out for Mr. Niven but that’s all up to the reviewer and betting many love it. It’s a spoof on the vampire genre.
Niven has starred in many movies and not many of us can think of him as a vampire. He did do a lot of comedies though which this movie is a horror comedy. This has to be the only movie that this writer can think that David Niven starred as a vampire!
How many have bought a horror movie pack and the movie has “Mama Dracula,” on it? Louise Fletcher has starred in many great movies and even as a vampire in this 1980 feature that didn’t get the best scoring but is still fun to watch. It’s a horror comedy where Fletcher is Mama Dracula, she must bathe in the blood of virgins but she’s finding it hard to do that in this modern world.
Interesting fact this is French and Belgian movie. It was directed by, Boris Szulzinger and has the late actress from, “Last Tango in Paris,” in it also. Anyway, for those who love bad horror comedies then this might be up their alley then.
Jack Palance had a great film legacy, some movies that come to mind are, “Shane,” “Sudden Fear,” and “City Slickers,” which he won an Oscar that movie. Well in 1973 Dan Curtis directed a TV version of Dracula called, “Bram Stoker’s Dracula,” and Jack Palance took the role.
Palance and Curtis though made a 1968 TV movie, “Dr. Jekyll and Mr, Hyde,” so it’s no surprise that they made their second collaboration together. It’s interesting though because while a lot of people know that he was Dracula once in the movies, not many think of it. He’s kind of thrown in the back because Lugosi, Lee, and Gary Oldman’s one Dracula performance is to some a little more memorable than Palance’s performance. Though diehard fans remember that Jack Palance was a vampire, one of the great ones too, Dracula!
