On tonight’s episode of “Beverly Hills Pawn,” Yossi Dina owns this extraordinary pawn shop where his team consists of Aria, Cory and Dominique. They handle only the high end clientele and when items come into the shop, they are usually one-of-a-kind.
A man came into the shop with some Rocky memorabilia. The costume Sylvester Stallone wore in the ring with his robe, gloves and trunks. The robe has the words Italian Stallion on the back, and the man wants $40,000 for the costume. Yossi offered him $10,000 as a pawn. The man offered him a challenge to spar with him for the prize. Yossi with his martial arts skill versus his boxing skills. If Yossi wins, he pays $10,000, if the guy won, he would get $20,000. Yossi clearly overpowered him, but he gave him $15,000 anyway for the fun as a loan against the items.
Yossi’s friend Gina is a collector of movie memorabilia. Cory, his movie expert came with him. He flirted with her all the way there, but she is his employee and wants to leave it that way. Gina showed him a dress worn by Elizabeth Taylor in the movie, “A Place in the Sun.” Gina wants to liquidate some of her collections and buy property in Tuscany. She is looking for $60,000 for this dress that was designed by Oscar winning designer, Edith Head. Cory whispered into his ear to give her $35,000, but Yossi offered her $40,000, and she accepted.
As the three women were cleaning up Yossi’s office, they found a box that contained panties with Swarovski crystals. They wondered if Yossi, an eccentric was a cross-dresser or just forgot about the box that someone sold or gave to him. They all promised not to mention it to Yossi as they each took a pair of the panties.
A woman came in with a painting that her husband did of Marilyn Monroe’s lips. Doubtless it is Marilyn’s lips with her famous toothy smile. She is selling the painting to get another face and boob lift, removing a rib to make a smaller waist and have some other maintenance. At sixty-three, the woman looks awesome, but this is Beverly Hills, and she wants to look her best. She wants $75,000 for this painting. Yossi never heard of this painter and declined her offer. When she asked for a counter offer, he would not even budge since she started her request too high.
A man came in who saw the Rocky memorabilia and wanted to buy it. Yossi told him that it was not for sale, but he insisted. Yossi called the owner and had him come into the shop to meet the man who wanted to buy it. As the two explained their case, Yossi was the voice of reason, and told the owner he should sell the items because the man has a valid reason to want them. He agreed, the seller got his money, less the loan against it, the buyer was thrilled and Yossi got his commission.
