During Friday’s edition of “Real Time,” Obama donor Bill Maher said that Republicans voting to repeal Obamacare engaged in “treason,” while wealthy filmmaker Michael Moore claimed that conservatives “hate America,” Mediaite reported.
Rattling off a laundry list of issues where Republicans disagree with Obama, Maher said that “at some point, obstruction becomes… treason.”
Moore went further, saying that conservative opposition is “more about hating [Barack Obama] than loving your country.”
“I think these conservatives and right-wingers really–for as much as they say they love this country–they hate it. They hate the government. They hate people… why is the government the big, evil bastard here?”
“Cause, Mike, it got taken over by a Kenyan socialist, that’s why,” Maher said.
Moore went on to say that the next generation is one that embraces liberal ideas like gay marriage and gun control, saying “they’re not bigots and they’re not haters.”
Maher agreed, adding that the next generation also wants less religion, bringing loud applause from the audience.
Moore also called the GOP a “squealing dinosaur” whose time has come, Josh Feldman said.
Earlier this week, the House voted to repeal Obamacare for the 37th time, Fox News reported. Two Democrats joined Republicans in a 229-195 vote to repeal the massive law.
While some of the underlying goals in the law remain popular, Fox said, the requirement that Americans carry coverage or face fines is still widely disliked.
