On Wednesday July 31, 2013, Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini has stepped up to the ESPN “carwash”. He spent his first 10 minutes on set with the First Take crew and he made some interesting statements about his four year quarterback Taylor Martinez.
Bo Pelini did not boldly state that Taylor Martinez would win the Heisman, but he said “with winning comes individual awards.” If you looked at Nebraska’s schedule, you might find that they have a chance to win a lot of games this year. Win or lose, Taylor Martinez will be a huge part of the Nebraska attack.
Bo Pelini also stated that Taylor Martinez was “fast, fast.” Along with his speed, he also intimated that Taylor Martinez might have the same type of jump from this year as he did last season. Martinez was a much better passer in his third season as starter.
First Take continued to talk about the innovative offenses that have taken hold in the NFL. With the likes of Robert Griffin III, Colin Kaepernick, and Russell Wilson, Bo Pelini thinks Taylor Martinez has the ability to play quarterback at the next level.
Bo Pelini also had thoughts of changing his sideline behavior. He’s a very emotional guy and sometimes his passion gets the best of him. Coaches and players must always assume there is a camera watching them.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers will start practice next week.
