Forecast discussion: A cold front is just passing central Massachusetts and Rhode Island as of this report. We will see our dewpoint temperatures begin to lower during the overnight hours, making the air feel less humid over Boston. We will have a couple of gorgeous summer days before a slow moving cold front bring some rainfall by Thursday night.
High pressure behind the front will bring clear skies this evening, and the humid air will leave with the cold front. The air will feel more comfortable during the daytime, and low temperatures tomorrow night will be cool enough to keep our windows open. We may not need the air conditioners for a couple of evenings.
However, the humidity will slowly return once again by Thursday night. A weak area of low pressure will help create showers in the Mid-Atlantic States. Meanwhile, a cold front will come into New England early Friday morning. The computer models suggest we may see some heavy rainfall during this time period. The front will stall over the area on Friday, before precipitation begins to dissipate by late Friday night. A new high pressure system will bring partly sunny skies for Saturday.
As we head into early next week, a weak disturbance behind the cold front may help trigger a few more showers by Sunday afternoon. A new high pressure system behind the disturbance will bring partly to mostly sunny skies by Monday. As you can see, temperatures will actually be below normal for most of the weekend into early next week. This is due to an upper level trough that will stay over the eastern U.S. during this time period.
