Forecast discussion: A low pressure system brought another round of rainfall upon eastern Massachusetts late Tuesday afternoon. The latest radar imagery shows rain and isolated thunderstorms now moving through the Boston area, while Providence is drying out. Based on the speed of the precipitation, I am expecting the rainfall to move offshore by 11 p.m.
High pressure over the Ohio River Valley will bring sunshine for the entire day over the state, with temperatures in the middle 70’s. However, clouds will be increasing by tomorrow night, as a low pressure system over Kansas will bring another round of showers and light rain by Thursday afternoon. The showers and rain will last through Friday, before moving offshore by early Saturday morning.
High pressure will bring back the sun for Saturday and most of Sunday. But, the weather pattern will provide us with a cold front through the area Sunday evening. Showers ahead of the front will continue into Monday morning, but the quick moving system will be offshore. We will return to some sunshine by Monday afternoon.
As we move into next Tuesday, a high pressure ridge will bring sunshine through the morning, with increasing clouds in the late afternoon. A new cold front will pass through, and there is a slight chance we will see more precipitation from this system. At this time, the American and European models disagree on the placement of a low pressure system. For now, I will go more with the European model, which keeps precipitation out of the region until Tuesday evening.
