Showers early this morning made for a wet and in some cases longer commute than usual. The showers have become more widely scattered at mid morning and will taper down for a few hours. Meanwhile, a warm front is draped across southwest New England and will push through the greater Boston area later today. Although the sun might poke out briefly during the mid day hours we are going to get another round or two of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon . Some of these storms could be strong and possibly an isolated severe storm or two. The threat for severe weather is greater in central and western Massachusetts but the possibility does exist that one or two could make it into Middlesex and western Essex County. Some of these strong or severe storms could bring heavy rain, strong gusty winds and hail.
By tonight we will be transitioning into the warm and more humid air mass as the warm front lifts to our north. Showers and thunderstorms will come to an end during the evening hours, with partial clearing late. Temperatures will only fall a few degrees from the highs of today.
The summer heat and higher humidity begins to overspread the area on Thursday and continues through Friday into Saturday. The days will feature mostly to partly sunny skies, hot and humid conditions. Overnight, warm and muggy. There is a slight chance of a pop up shower or thunderstorm each afternoon, but most areas should remain dry.
On Sunday we should have an increase in clouds as a cold front approaches. Showers and thunderstorms may break out late in the day or at night.
