8:00 p.m. Allen Shervelle & Friends
130 and counting is the number of Superman shirts Allen has these days. You can say he’s a FANatic. He says he has been ever since he saw his first SUPERMAN movie, SUPERMAN IV: Quest for Peace. His mom gave him Superman PJ’s and he’s been hooked ever since. If he’s out, he will be wearing a Superman tee, unless he’s feeling a little Clark Kent. When he performs he wears a Superman Tee no matter what and I can attest to that as I have seen him perform many times.
He was born in Middlesex County New Jersey and he got into music through his church choir. He says he never really loved singing, but the little old ladies at his church loved him, so he did it. He wanted to play the drums. He always knew making music is what he wanted to do with his life. Freshman year of high school his mom bought him his first and only drum set, a TAMA ROCKSTAR. He started playing in Heavy Metal / Hard Rock bands. He never took lessons. He was the guy that played by ear. He still does even with guitar.
He went to college at Seton Hall University, a Big East School with the best College radio station in the Northeast. He was in a rock band called Thousand Suns. They played a lot and he knew he wanted MUSIC to be my life.
He always wanted to write so in his sophomore year of college he wrote his first song after a hard break up. He hopes to write some songs that last forever. He got involved with NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International) chapter in Charlotte and got even more involved with music. There was going to be a workshop on a Saturday with Marc Alan Barnette, a pro songwriter from Nashville. He went and loved it and from that point forward, he started traveling back and forth between home and Nashville. He got married and moved to Nashville. He plays writers nights several times a month and he play’s in a duo with Bonnie Lee Panda, and he play’s in a duo with Jon Webber called JUSTICE. His Music goals are simple: Inspire people with HOPE, have FUN and ROCK!
