The word belief itself used to mean to love, to prize, to hold dear, to define. In Plato’s day the word belief stood for an intellectual ascent. It didn’t have the meaning it does today,” I accept, I commit myself; I engage certain creeds of faith. I accept certain indoctrinations and I put them into my life and act on them.” Belief is only a very recent craze and enthusiasm. Believing is not the only thing you are supposed to do. People use the word “believe” as if it is the only thing to do.
What is religion
Religion is about behaving differently. You behave in a certain way that says you are committed to certain doctrines. You only understand them when you put them into practice. Religion to part of the public is extremely unpopular, when there are faiths the many know nothing about at all, The sister faiths, the Nation of Islam and the study of other religious traditions that enable you to look at your own religion in a different light. Maybe your religious doctrines seem unproven and abstract.
In the Curran certain beliefs and doctrines make no sense and seem to do know more than to make people stupidly quarrelsome and centurion.
If religion is not about believing certain things then what is religion
You behave in a committed way then you begin to believe in certain doctrines.
In every world faith, compassion is what will bring people into the strength of others, its nirvana. You dethrone yourself from the center of your world and you put another person there. It will bring people into the Prescence, God or Divine. We feel with the other person.
It’s known as the Golden Rule
It’s the central thread that runs through all teachings and brings you to the transcendent experience itself. Go and study it. You can stand on one leg and recite what is the center of any religion the rest is used to as filler for Sunday or Saturday sermons.
Now look at our world
People endlessly judge others, endlessly putting others down with Bible scripture, messing up wonderful things. You must not confine compassion to your own group. Concern for everybody, honor the stranger, know one another. This universal outreach is becoming, has been a way for people to oppress one another instead of a way to raise one another up. You can’t blame this on “religion” itself but on people themselves who lose sight of what the Golden Doctrine is by their petty indifferences.
“Do not do to others what you would not like them to do to you”
Human heartedness is a transcendent experience in itself. That which is hateful to you do not do to your neighbor. You must make it clear that every other part of religion or scripture is a gloss of the Golden Rule. Scripture teaches nothing but charity and it’s a struggle to find this compassion in some of these barbaric ancient texts.
Tribes and nations so that you may know one another, not commit to your own people alone
When a conflict gets engrained in a region, religion can get conflicted and pulled into it. Politics confuse the life of the people and interrupts what faith is.
A yearning for change
Yearning for a friendly voice, what can we do to change things? An ideology that doesn’t put for a global appreciation, a global understanding of each other is failing the test of the time. It is a profound moral matter that should engage us all, including politics. Coming together to create networks of understanding, bringing in appreciation of one another not just tolerance.
Weeping together creates a bond together, the Greeks believed
It’s of great importance and the world is missing it in all that is happening in the world. A movement is needed, people want to join up and reclaim their faith, and to give guidelines by using the Golden Rule as to how to get along, and it can be done. The idea to commit to working together to create a document to be signed by all major traditions of the world. The United Nations can bring in the neutrality so it’s not just seen as an only western or eastern or whatever propagation.
