By now, most comic book fans and moviegoers know that next summer, the X-Men will be coming in full force in Days of Future Past. The upcoming movie will bring not just the people from First Class; but from the X-Men trilogy as well. Both continuities meet in this massive blockbuster as director Bryan Singer returns to the franchise to helm this film. There is already much on this movie, including a viral video that hit the web yesterday. The latest on the movie comes from the words of director Bryan Singer.
Empire Magazine caught up with the director today and had several questions to ask. Most of the discussion were no doubt questions that needed answering. For starters, exactly when does all of this take place? Fortunately, Singer has given fans and moviegoers the time frame between the two worlds.
“It takes place about ten years, give or take, after X-Men 3; and in the past it takes place about ten years after First Class.”
This latest update is indeed helpful by giving fans an idea of what to expect from both timelines; however the update did not stop there. Singer also talked about where the characters of Xavier and Magneto would be at the start of the film (meaning James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender for those wondering).
“Charles is in a very dark hole when we meet him, and Erik has been gathering his power.”
From an early picture of the young Xavier, something did seem off (the beard was the giveaway); and now we know why. Still, it begs the question what happened during those ten years. Unfortunately, that is a question we may not have the answer to until the film release.
