‘Cake Boss’ makes a ‘Butter Cream Submarine’ on TLC

by used view

Last night’s episode of “Cake Boss” was titled “Butter Cream Submarine” As the episode opens Buddy tells fans that he got a call from the Navy. They are having a huge ball, and submariners will be coming to Connecticut for the occasion. So Buddy and his crew came to get a tour of a submarine. Buddy is a true patriot and whenever the Armed Forces call upon him, he is there. The ball will be attended by 2,200 people, so it better be some cake. Paul, who Buddy hired even though he did not win the competition against Ashley, has been in submarines during his stint in the service, will oversee the details.

A mother, grandmother and daughter come to the bakery and met with Mauro. They want a bat mitzvah cake for Melanie, who loves watching the show. Before her great-grandmother died, she left several envelopes for her special grandkids. One of the envelopes was for her bat mitzvah, which will pay for the cake. Melanie wants a purple and blue cake, with animal prints and her mother requested some rosettes as a tribute that only the family will know about.

As the submarine committee is conferring, they all have different ideas about how it should be presented. Buddy wants it to be fun. Paul will be hanging up his jacket and taking a sales job with a baking supplier. He is thrilled that the submarine cake is his last cake at the bakery.

Now they will get together to design the bat mitzvah cake. Mauro said he usually visualizes each cake as the person orders it. This cake left him still wondering about it, as each family member had a different idea of what it should be.

As the submarine cake is taking shape, Ashley and Paul have not gotten along since “The Next Great Baker” and she will surely not miss him when he leaves.

When the celebration day came, and the cake was delivered, the family was nearly in tears. Melanie was presented with her great grandmother’s ring. It was worn by her grandmother, her mother, and now she will proudly wear the rose quartz ring.

The submarine cake was like something out of a 3-D movie. Buddy loved it, and the rest of the crew had second thoughts. The bottom of the ocean was in neon colors, with a whale, a giant squid and even King Neptune holding his trident. The propeller was spinning, and the periscope went up and down. The entire crowd loved the cake, and Buddy told them that Paul was a submariner for five years, and if there was a problem, to see him.

Fans will miss Paul, but Ashley will not. Farewell, Paul and best of luck in your new job, Paul. As Buddy said, God Bless the U.S. Navy, and God Bless America, on this episode of “Cake Boss.”
