Last night’s episode of “Cake Boss” was titled “Easter Basket Cake.” As the episode opens Buddy is anticipating the Easter holiday. Holidays are the busiest time for the bakery, and now they have two bakeries to supply with goodies for everyone.
While in the Ridgewood bakery, they are running out of everything. As the bakery is mobbed with people, Buddy is on the phone to Joe, the head baker ordering more items.
A woman comes in representing “Autism Speaks.” She wants an Easter basket cake to highlight their fundraiser. Buddy and Anthony try to make a marshmallow peanut butter filling for the cake and then fill it with Easter treats.
When the delivery comes from Lackawanna, Mary questions the amount of wheat pies. They only delivered five, and she has a store full of people who want one.
One great surprise to viewers, is the return of Mama Valastro from Florida. She came up for the holidays, and dedicated fans want to know how she is doing since diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease. She is in a wheelchair, but looking healthy as the family prays for a miracle.
As Mama sees Dr. Manuel Banzon, she tells him that she is getting weaker and the muscles in her chest have deteriorated since the last checkup. The worst part of the muscle deterioration, is that it affects her breathing. Dr. Banzon said that it progressed slowly, but acceptance and family are the keys to her survival.
As the individual cheesecakes arrive at the Ridgewood bakery, the pace is frantic. Buddy starts to realize that two bakeries are a handful and in the future, will be making different preparations.
As the Easter basket cake is taking shape; Buddy shows the staff how to make basket weave icing, that is slowly becoming a lost art. As Buddy and his kids deliver the cake to the fundraiser, it is the hit of the day. Before leaving, Buddy counts down the Easter egg hunt before returning to the bakery.
At Buddy & Lisa’s house, Mauro & Madeline’s son, Buddy C, is getting all the Valastro kids together to make a scrapbook to surprise their grandmother.
On Easter Sunday, the family gathers at Buddy & Lisa’s for a traditional dinner. Grandma arrives to a reception line of grandkids and hugs and kisses from all. Then she is presented with the scrapbook. It was awesome and the pictures of her and her family both past and present was a loving tribute to this beautiful lady. Fans wish her nothing but the best, but above all, she has the love of a beautiful family, and the entire staff and fans of the “Cake Boss.”
