The ability to use something you don’t know how to use, works. You don’t know how a car operates but you drive it and it works. You don’t know the details of its engine, but you know the ritual of starting the car and how to take responsibility for some of the maintenance.
There are many explanations for how magic works depending on what part of the baseball field you are standing in. The largest aspect for meaning that is an ancient wisdom still prevalent in today’s world is that everything animate and inanimate has a spirit or an energy. Another form of magic is one where deities, gods, or angels do the work, and they also have assistants who help them to help you.
Religions who practice a form of magic prefer not to call it by the word magic, and view it as a natural evolution of working with the divine. They work with their intuition, magic, or scientific prayer, visualization, mantra or meditation. Other religions are just the opposite and see it as working with demons or the devil and strictly off limits.
When you are speaking with someone who sees working with the divine as evil, there is no changing their mind. Its deeply ingrained from when they were children, the demonic belief in the devil, it’s a culture of thought from their religion, parents and family . It’s fear-based, and to believe otherwise is to go against all they were brought up to believe in, and that takes transformation and courage to go against the grain. My experience has been if you must convince someone of what it is you are doing, their mind is already set in their belief, and no amount or proof on my part will convince that person otherwise. If they change their mind and have faith and believe, it comes on their own, and through divine will.
“I see dead people”
One explanation for magic is the spiritist explanation, and that belief is that the spirits of the dead are acting in power. Psychological belief says everything we experience comes from the senses and is interpreted by the mind. Change the thinking and you can literally change your reality. No rituals, no muss, no fuss. You create it.
Quantum physics theory or Einstein’s Theory of Relativity
Some people will label this as ‘the devil’ or evil or call it magic, or divine –God Particle. In the world of quanta , which is form of mechanics within the brain, mind and body-intuition. It’s a neurotransmitter, neuron firing explanation more scientific than me which breaks down into, for example you cut your finger, by focusing your attention on it, the current state of your brain allows you to interpret the signaling, pain, blood, the more your you are able to direct your attention to specific stimuli, the more readily all the neurons involved will be able to fire and synapse to each other promoting and strengthening and solidifying of the event. Wow.
Different magic is interpreted differently, and is called by different names other than magic, and what the people are working with is called by different names, but like different religions, it is all toward the same purpose
For a small example of this, would also be the many different kinds altars used in religion or witchcraft. What is called a religious object by religion is called a power object in witchcraft and in some spiritually divine inspired “magic.”
The art of causing change in consciousness in accordance with will
It’s tricky no doubt. Magic and ritual work to transform the mind of the practitioner, or on the person to be healed. This was Alister Crowley’s belief, rather than it changing the external world. It is said to change the inner self, which in turn can change the surrounding reality, directly or indirectly.
Does the magic-energy healing work
The mind is a powerful and strong thing. The healing is up to the person being healed. When you understand otogeny, you know the mind can form a sickness which also shows up in the body when the thought is traumatic and not corrected with “right thought.”
That is why healing the whole person is necessary, rather than to heal just the body, as the medical industry does. For some what is done medicinally may work, or it may disappear and show up in another part of the body.
Whatever works wellness
Healing the psyche. When it comes to healing, some take a whatever works approach because different things work for different people to “break the spell” of the thinking that has a hold of the mind causing the illness or injury. For example, in the remarkable novel (he doesn’t just write horror) by Stephen King made into a movie, “The Green Mile,” starring Tom Hanks and Micheal Clarke Duncan, about the inexplicable healing abilities of John Coffey, a massive black man on death row for the rape of two young girls. Coffey is quiet and sensitive and described as “knowing his name and not much else.”
Coffey heals Warden Moores wife who is dying of a brain tumor. She fears the black man, the story takes place in the thirties when racism still prevails, and whom Warden Moore even threatens to kill with a gun all the way up to the point where the healing is performed on her by John Coffey. She is healed and recovers. Did the fear of the man doing the healing break the spell of the fear she held on to, was it the way the healing was performed, was divine presence?
A different type of healing altogether
In the movie, “Brimstone and Treacle,” starring Sting as a drifter, is about an older couple who is struggling to deal with their daughter’s altered life. She was injured severely in an automobile hit-and-run accident. She is strapped down to the living room couch in an adult diaper and care barely speak, and not able to take care of herself. The mother never leaves the house because she needs constant care, believes the young woman can hear her and understands her, the father has given up on her.
The “drifter” needs work and agrees to help with the daughter. Eventually the couple agrees after the drifter wins them over cooking and doing various chores. Then one day when the parents are gone, the drifter rapes the girl, precipitating a change in consciousness.
The drifter runs out of the house and is gone forever. The girls expression is changed, noticed when the mother comes back home and she is fully recovered from her disabilities. She recovers her memory regarding the accident, and what was going on before the accident, which results in her discovery of her father having an affair. Yes, they are movies, but they are examples of the different kinds of energy involved and how healing can take place a variety of ways, and neither of them having to do with invasive medicine, but a change in consciousness.
In your magic, prayer or whatever form it is you are using, you can pray or do magic work for healing, but to narrow it down and say the healing must be done this specific way may block the very way it is to come. Only spirit, presence, the universe, God knows. I feel that what people want to know is, are they alone, the one with the power to change what is happening.
