It was reported last night that, Douglas J. Hagmann, columnist for the Canada Free Press (CFP) was informed that he was put on an active investigation list by NSA by an unnamed security source.
Judi McLeod, an award-winning journalist with 30 years’ experience in the print media stated that Hagmann’s recent reporting and for the past several years of his Insider Reports, has earned him the spot on the NSA’s watch list and that a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request has been filed on his behalf.
McLeod stated that the NSA investigation was found on the heels when Hagmann wrote a column warning Americans, “It’s about to get very ugly”.
In his column, “It’s about to get very ugly” and reported on by the Paulding County Republican Examiner, Hagmann said that a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) insider told him, “The present administration is going after leakers, media sources, anyone and everyone who is even suspected of ‘betrayal.’ That’s what they call it, ‘betrayal.’ Can you believe the size of their cahones? This administration considers anyone telling the truth about Benghazi, the IRS, hell, you name the issue, ‘betrayal’.”
McLeod said, “Add to Hagmann’s own ability that his articles for the past eight years have been posted on a private, independent news site with a reputation of credibility; that he now has a popular, three-hour weeknight and Sunday Internet radio show, the Hagmann-Hagmann Report with his son Joe, and you can see Hagmann’s plight more clearly.”
Two days ago, Fox News reported that Edward Snowden, who leaked NSA’s intelligence gathering on all Americans said,“Even if you’re not doing anything wrong you’re being watched and recorded. And the storage capability of these systems increases every year consistently by orders of magnitude to where it’s getting to the point where you don’t have to have done anything wrong. You simply have to eventually fall under suspicion from somebody even by a wrong call. And then they can use this system to go back in time and scrutinize every decision you’ve ever made, every friend you’ve ever discussed something with. And attack you on that basis to sort to derive suspicion from an innocent life and paint anyone in the context of a wrongdoer.”
McLeod stated that the FOIA was filed by Hagmann’s colleague and author, Marinka Peschmann.
Mcleod finished her column by stating that Hagmann’s name needs to continue to be out in the open for his safety.
She said, “If CFP readers continue to get his name out there the way they have been doing the last five days, Hagmann may be all the more safe from harm because of the high profile it affords him.”
The NSA scandal has captured the mainstream media headlines but another story has largely been ignored.
On June 4, 2013, The Paulding County Republican Examiner reported on the purging of political dissidents by the CIA under the direction of CIA Director, John Brennan.
In that story, the purge of non-supporters of Obama complete with vicious reprisals and threats against anyone who dared to speak out against the CIA or the Obama administration began in 2009 and has escalated into 2013.
