Yes, that’s right, it is that time again! The Dog Days will be happening at Cantigny Park this Saturday, August 3rd from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. This event is free with your $5 parking fee per automobile. Cantigny is located at 1S151 Winfield Road in Wheaton, Illinois.
This one-day only event is for dog lovers to enjoy all of the fun that the park has to offer while taking along their best furry friend! Cantigny invites you to bring your dog out to enjoy the special dog play area set up just for them. The only catch is that the dogs must be social with other dogs in order to attend!
There will be the added bonus of various dog vendors and rescue organizations in attendance. There will even be some specially trained pooches to entertain the masses with!
Each year this event gets better and better! This year there will be the following things to see and to do:
• Agility Demonstrations
• Windy City K9 Disc Club featuring their
World Champion High Flying Disc Dogs
• 70+ Vendor Booths
• Dog Rescue Organizations
• The Bark Park (Pet Play Area)
• Animal Shelters
• On-site Adoption Services
• Kids’ Craft $5: Stuff a Dog
The Pet Play Area will include small pools in its splash area for dogs to go to cool off and socialize with other dogs. Some dogs really enjoy meeting others, romping and playing and simply having a good time.
All dogs in attendance must remain on their leash at all times. They must also be up to date with their current vaccinations and must display their current vaccination tags on their collar.
Each year more and more people take advantage of all of the fun offered on this special day at this special park. There is something to see and do for everyone that attends – including the pooch! Last year there were military dogs performing and children and adults alike got to learn the history behind the military dog tags.
Save-A-Vet was also in attendance bringing attention to the good work that military canines do for our troops serving abroad in war zones. Without being involved, it is hard to imagine that a dog is our military’s first line of defense. Save-A-Vet works to house homeless veterans and the canines that provide our country with a service that guarantees our freedom.
People come from all over to experience this great annual event. When the weather cooperates, it is a howling good time! This event is only one day each year, so you will not want to miss it!
