A car crashes daycare story is not one that any parents want to see trending in the morning, and while two children were trapped underneath a car for several minutes, fortunately the accident left no children dead. A car careened into a Kansas City daycare yesterday after being struck by an SUV, seriously injuring three children and the 80-year-old driver, as well as shocking the owners of Christian Academy daycare, US News reported this Wednesday, July 31.
The car crash at a Kansas City, MO., daycare occurred Tuesday afternoon when a parked car suddenly collided into the front wall of Christian Academy daycare when it was hit in the back by an SUV. Three children were seriously injured in the crash, while the SUV driver — thought to be almost 80-years-old — was also hurt.
Two children were trapped underneath the car for an undisclosed amount of time, while another was also injured in aftermath of the accident. All four children were rushed to the hospital due to serious injuries (but no life-threatening wounds), and are now in stable condition.
Over 40 children were in the daycare at the time of the car crash. All of the kids have been accounted for, note authorities. The parked vehicle was damaged so badly after slamming through the daycare wall that it was completely totaled.
Although the cause of the accident is being investigated, it is thought that the 80-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle while in the parking lot, perhaps hitting the gas instead of the brakes, and plowing into the car that careened into the daycare.
