The 36th Annual Ephrata Firecracker 5 Mile Race will also use a Chip Timing System for the first time this year. Racers should wear their race bib on the front of their shirt so that it is clearly visible. The race bib should also be pinned in all four corners. The bib should not be folded or wrinkled, nor should it be covered by jackets, belts or anything else.
The Independence Day race begins at Oak Blvd. and Old Mill Road and weaves through Ephrata Borough. It concludes at the War Memorial Field. The registration fee is $25. Registration is available the day of the race at 6:30 a.m. The race begins at 8:30 a.m. with awards at 10 a.m. A two mile fun run will be at 9:45 a.m. Showers and swimming, after the event, will also be available for the participants at the Ephrata Rec Center. The Lancaster Road Runners Club (LRRC) holds regularly scheduled runs on Sunday and Thursday in July. Every Sunday LRRC members meet at Long’s Park for a run from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday runs will vary in location and are scheduled beginning at 6:30 p.m. The evening normally includes a run followed by fellowship at a local eatery. US Road Running encourages runners to join the monthly Get Out and Run Program. This is a virtual race and goal program. Sign up to run a 5K, 10K or a specific goal. Then run an already established race, your own personal course, or even the treadmill at the gym. Log your time and compare against others in your age group. The 18th Annual Freshburst 5 Mile Run will be Saturday, 20 July in Lititz. The race, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson, will benefit a local charity, not yet determined. The Shoe Fly 5 will also be held on 20 July. The Terre Hill race begins at 8 a.m. It begins in the quaint town and traverses through the adjoining farmland. The race is part of the annual Terre Hills Days. The proceeds of the race will benefit the Garden Spot HS Cross Country Booster Club. Prizes will be awarded to the top runners, both overall and in each age category. The registration fee is $15 before 5 July. After that it is $20. Plan now to participate in the 4th Annual Bird-In-Hand Half Marathon. The two day event will take place Friday, 6 September and Saturday, 7 September. The races begin across from the Bird-In-Hand Family Inn on Route 340 and benefit the Bird-In-Hand Volunteer Fire Company. Friday evening will begin with the Bird-in-Hand Fire Company Pre-Race Pasta & Amish Pizza Party from 5 to 7:30 p.m. A Kid Run will be at 6:15 p.m. and the 5K is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The half marathon begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, 7 September. Online registration is open now for the 10th Annual Hands-on-House Half Marathon & 5K. This Manheim Township race is scheduled for 28 September. The half marathon is a USATF certified race. This year a 10k has been added. Registration is $60 for the half marathon until 31 August. The entry fee for th e10k is $40 and $30 for the 5K.
