A 42-year-old cab driver was found shot to death inside his Checker Yellow cab early Friday morning in DeKalb County. And police suspect that he was a victim of an armed robbery.
So far police have no suspects and they have declined to release the name of the victim until his family has been notified.
The investigation began around 2:30.m. when officers responded to the Oak Creek Apartments at 280 Northern Ave. after getting a report of shots fired, according to DeKalb County police.
“When officers arrived they discovered a man slumped over the steering wheel of a cab unresponsive,” police spokeswoman Ms. Mekka Parish said.
The man had been shot at least once and died at the scene, police said.
“Detectives believe robbery was the motive for this shooting,” Ms. Parish said.
But no information has been released on whether the cab driver was at the complex to drop off a fare, or pick up a customer.
