Last night’s episode of “Chef Roble & Co.” was the season finale and was titled “Chrissy’s Crabtacular.” As the episode opens, Roble is talking with his girlfriend Shelby about the problems he has been having with Artie. Jasmine is having a meeting with Artie at a coffee shop, and he is complaining about Roble. Jasmine knows that Artie likes to be the boss, but he is not the boss; Roble is. Roble told Shelby that supermodel Chrissy Tiegen, who is engaged to singer John Legend is having a birthday, and Roble is doing the catering.
Jasmine has mixed emotions meeting with Artie and she felt the same way last year, but got over it. Artie told Jasmine that if the situation continues, he is leaving. As the three of them met to plan the birthday party, John and Chrissy join them. Chrissy loves crabs and wants to have a Crabtacular of a birthday party. John wants fried chicken too. As they ask Artie a question, they realize that his mind is somewhere else. Roble met with Rob, Kiku and Adam to discuss the menu and Kiku was star struck when she heard that John Legend will be there while the guys went crazy over the thought of Chrissy. She wants a dirty birthday party called “Chrissy’s Got Crabs, Birthday Crabtacular.” The menu has to be American food. As they observe the seafood, Roble does not think they have enough and brings in more.
Talking to Kiku, she is making Mississippi Mud Pie, that her Japanese grandmother made better than everyone, as she was the queen of soul food. Kiku even makes her fried chicken in a wok.
Jasmine and Artie are discussing the party; she found a crab costume that she wants Shawn to wear, and Artie is sure that it is not going to work. When she called Shawn, he loved the idea, even though she and Artie have been tiptoeing around each other.
When Artie met with Roble and the chefs, they disagreed about everything. Finally, Roble told Artie that he was being a bitch for no reason, and then he walked out of the room. When they were alone together, Roble told him that for the last four months, he had been very disagreeable. Roble believes that Artie cannot accept a younger boss. In his last job, that he had for twenty years, everyone was under him, and the dynamic has changed, where he is not in command.
The day of the party, at Studio 450 in Hell’s Kitchen, Artie and his crew are getting the place ready. Jasmine has not yet shown up, and then the food is delivered by Roble and his chefs. Finally, Jasmine arrives and Artie is wound as tight as an eight-day clock. As the tables are being set up, Roble comes in and changes the design, as Artie gets his nose further out of joint.
As the guests arrive, there are musicians, supermodels and celebrities. Even Caroline Manzo of the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” is there. As the seafood is literally dumped out across a table, guests grab large portions of these delicacies as they help themselves to the feast that includes baked beans and potato salad. The Mississippi Mud Pies were a delightful finishing touch, until the cake came out, it look just like a big crab and was awesome.
The singing and dancing was a treat as the chefs found new energy after the feast was served. Kiku was thrilled to dance with John Legend, but she admitted that he was a much better singer than dancer.
As the party was ending, Roble told Artie that he did a great job, and showed him the respect he deserved, then told fans that Artie was not going anywhere, so guess he will be not only on this episode of “Chef Roble & Co,” but in seasons to come.
