Chevrolet is revealing their new 2014 Silverado Texas Edition, at their media first drive event in San Antonio, Texas starting May 6 where the automotive press will have its first chance to drive the new Silverado trucks both on and off-road around and near San Antonio.
Chevrolet is very much aware of the importance of the Texas truck market to the success of pickup trucks in North America.
Even without a new or majorly upgraded Sierra for several years, Chevrolet has continued to seriously challenge the market leader, Ford F-Series, through 2012 and now into 2013, with the previous generation Silverado – a testament to the strength, durability and desirability of the Silverado trucks from Chevrolet.
With the new 2014 Silverado, the Texas Edition leading, Chevrolet is looking to make a serious run at Ford in 2014 with their new line of Silverado trucks – making that first solid impression in Texas is absolutely key.
“The Silverado Texas Edition recognizes the fact that one out of every six full-size pickups are sold in Texas,” said Maria Rohrer, Silverado marketing director. “It combines features that add real value for Silverado customers with unique badging that honors the connection between Texans and their trucks.”
The Texas Edition is available either on the midlevel Silverado LT or on the more upscale LTZ.
For the LT version, the Texas editions adds 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, a trailering package, locking rear differential, body-color outside mirror caps and door handles, and Texas Edition badges.
For LTZ models, the 20-inch wheels, door handles and mirror caps are chrome and a Bose premium audio system is added.
According to Chevrolet, the Texas Edition Silverado will also have:
• All-new EcoTec3 engines – a standard 285-horsepower V-6 on the LT and 355-horsepower V-8 on the LTZ
• A stronger, quieter, more comfortable cab
• A refined new interior with features and connectivity tailored to the needs of truck customers
• Powerful, intuitive connectivity via Chevrolet MyLink
• Revised steering, suspension and brakes for improved ride and handling
• Ingenious solutions for managing cargo in the bed.
For customers in the other 49 states, a Custom Sport package with comparable features – but no Texas Edition badges – will be available.
We will be driving the new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Texas Edition and the other trim levels Tuesday and will give you our first drive impressions later this week.
