Jerry’s-Wicker Park is hosting a night of weed discussion, celebration and intrigue. “It’s Always 4:20 Somewhere” is the theme, and we are taking it (somewhat) seriously. Quimby’s Bookstore, Lagunitas Brewing Co, and the IL chapter of NORML will all be supporting the event, along with entertainment from Impala sound Champions, Author Ryan Nerz, and legendary Chicago MC Dirty MF. The night will start off with Ryan Nerz, author of Marijuanamerica: One Man’s Quest to Understand America’s Dysfunctional Love Affair with Weed, performing a synchronized reading/live painting session with the enigmatic Chicago-based artist, Chadwick. There will then be a Q&A session with the author and representatives from NORML at around 8pm to discuss marijuana-related topics, from cultural stigmas and amusing stories, to developing changes in legality. Quimby’s Bookstore will be on-site with copies of Marijuanamerica for the author to sign. Ryan Nerz is a freelance journalist who has written for Esquire, NPR, and the History Channel.
