With the month of July comes the first full month of summer, some of the warmest weather of the year and some of the best summer festivals in Chicago! Every weekend this July you can celebrate the sunshine with live music, great food and local vendors. The temperatures are going to keep going up at the festivals start becoming more and more prominent. Check out all the fun things to do in Chicago, whether you’re traveling, here for good, or just looking for a good time!
Wavefront Music Festival
July 5-7 – Montrose Harbor
Head down to Montrose Beach for a 3-day dance party with all of the other electronic fans in the area. This year’s lineup includes Audiofly, Audion, Benoit and Sergio, Caspa, Justice, Chris Lake, DJ 3LAU, Shaun Reeves, Soul Clap, Pleasurekraft, Rusko, Magda, Jamie Jones, Lee Curtiss and many more.
Windy City Ribfest
July 5-7 – Uptown
More than 40,000 people attend this festival every year (and it’s not even the largest festival in Chicago!) Taste more varieties of ribs than you ever could have imagined in 1 (or 3) evenings as pros from all over get together to compete for the Best Ribs awards. Families, couples and meat lovers of every other status will enjoy the activities, live music and other vendors each day from 5pm-10pm!
Taste of Lakeview and Rock Around the Block
July 6-7 – Lakeview
Lakeview continues to be one of the hottest neighborhoods in these parts, and every year this festival draws in huge crowds with live music, craft vendors, street performers and delicious Chicago foods.

July 10-14 – Grant Park
One of the most famous food festivals in the world is back for another year! Come out and celebrate some of the best eats in town for 5 days in Grant Park this summer. It’s completely free to get in, and worth every penny to eat up. Live performances include Grammy Award winning band Fun, The Congregation, Company of Thieves, Kelly Hogan and more!
Irish American Heritage Festival
July 12-14 – Portage Park
Enjoy Irish music, food and culture at the annual Irish American Heritage Festival in Portage Park. This family friendly event is free for kids under 12 and $7-$15 for everyone else. While you’re here, enjoy the poetry readings, vendors and activities.
Windy City Smokeout
July 12-14 – River North
Head down South without leaving the state of Illinois for 3 days of country music and delicious BBQ.

July 12-14 – Lincoln Square
Back for it’s second year, all proceeds of the Square Roots festivities benefit the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce and the Old Town School of Music. It’s $10 for adults and $5 for children, and here you’ll find everything from live music and dance performances to craft beer and great food. There are also plenty of activities for the young kids to enjoy.
Roscoe Village Burger Fest
July 13-14 – Roscoe Village
At this burger extravaganza, you’ll find toppings and pairings you wouldn’t have even imagined in your wildest dreams. Try all of the delicious burger joints (there’s something for every eater whether you prefer your burger loaded with meat or garden fresh) and enjoy the music and other fun events during these 2 days. There’s a $6 suggested donation at the gate.
July 13-14 – West Town
Music from local bands and DJs, vendors with crafts and artwork, great food, children’s activities and more that make up the culture of West Town in this annual festival.
Taste of River North
July 19-21 – River North
Live music from Lucky Boys Confusion, Rod Tuffcurls, Sixteen Candles, Sons of the Silent Age and more are just the icing on the cake to the food, vendors and various activities offered at this annual Chicago festival.
July 19-21 – North Center
All proceeds from the food, music, activities and more benefit St. Benedict’s parish at this family friendly summer festival. The children’s area includes games, water slides, characters in costume, face painting, arts and crafts and inflatable fun.

A 3-day Indie fest this summer that you won’t want to miss.

Explore over 100 residential gardens, enjoy music from Poi Dog Pondering (Sunday), take a guided architectural tour or let the kids play with all the fun activities. The gate donation ($7-$10) benefits the Sheffield Neighborhood Association.
Celebrate Clark Street
July 20-21 – Rogers Park
All proceeds from the two stages of music, food vendors and kids activities will benefit the Rogers Park Business Alliance.
Chinatown Summer Fair
July 21 – Chinatown
The 34th annual celebration of Asian culture in Chicago comes together for an afternoon of arts and crafts, children’s activities, food, music, dance performances and more. The colorful and popular Dragon and Lion Dance Procession passes through the celebration at 12:30 p.m.
Fiesta Del Sol
July 25-28 – Pilsen
This annual block party in Pilsen draws millions and celebrates Latin American culture with art, live entertainment, carnival rides, cuisine from a variety of countries, children’s activities and more. Proceeds of the event benefit the Pilsen neighborhood.
July 26-28 – Jefferson Park
Who doesn’t love a good food truck? Enjoy a few of them, The Urban Folk Circuit, an arts show, a kid’s zone, drum circles, vendors and live music by The Locals, Hank and Cupcake, Dot Dot Dot, Pat Smilie Band, Luna Blu, Michael McDermott and more.
Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival
July 27 – Tinley Park
Back for its 5th year, this touring music festival will feature performances by Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, Mastodon, Amon Amarth, Machine Head, Job for a Cowboy, Butcher Babies, Battlecross, The Huntress, Children of Bodom, Behemoth, Emmure, Born of Osiris and Motionless In White.
Taste of Lincoln Avenue

Over 250 vendors, 40 musical acts , the Lill Street Craft Fair (open til dusk), a kid’s carnival, petting zoo, pony rides and more make up one hell of an annual fundraiser once more.
