The Guinness Book of World Records has officially sanctioned the Kansas City Chihuahua Parade, which is to be held on Sunday May 5 at the Barney Allis Plaza 301 W. 12th. This event will be an official attempt to break the Most Dogs in Costume record. Admission for the event is $5 and benefits the Great Plains SPCA.
The Brookside Shopping District will hold their annual Brookside Art Show, Friday through Sunday at Brookside. Participants will see artist, sculptors, music, food and street entertainment.
The Crossroads Art District holds their First Friday Art Walk on May 3. Participants can expect to see local artists, entertainment and food specials in the area. The event has the largest amount of food trucks in the Kansas City area.

Aftershock Bar and Grill
The Aftershock Bar and Grill is located at 5240 Merriam Dr. in Merriam, Kan. On Friday night Aftershock will feature Mushroomhead with Final Trigger, Ionia, Lydia Can’t Breathe, Dogs of Delphi and Klehma. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $17 at the door.
The Czar Bar at 1531 Grand will feature Mustache Leos and The Go-Karts at 8 p.m. on Friday night. The event is for anyone 18 years and older. Saturday night they will present a fundraiser for unlabeled featuring Steven Cooper, Lauren Price and DJ Lee. Tickets for Saturday night are $10.
Davey’s Uptown Ramblers Club
Davey’s Uptown Ramblers Club is located at 3402 Main in Kansas City. The featured performers on Friday night will Betsy Ellis, Adam Lee (the full band) and the Carpenter Family. Saturday night Davey’s will present Walker and the Texas Rangers at 7 p.m. Taking the stage at 9:30 p.m. will be Bad Ideas, Itching Regret, Johnny Switchblade and Get Shot.
The RecordBar is located at 1020 Westport Road in the Westport Entertainment District. On Friday night at 7 p.m. Danny Cox and Friends open the night’s entertainment. At 10 p.m. Mark Lowrey and Project H Present: Song Reader with special guests Shay Estes and Jeff Harshbarger. On Saturday at 7 p.m. Dirty Work takes the stage and is followed at 10 p.m. by the Zeros, Spud Patrol: A Tribute to Devo.
The Riot Room
The Riot Room is located at 4048 Broadway in the Westport Entertainment District. On Friday they will feature the Chad Ruddles Birthday Bash with Shaman’s Harvest, Evalyn Awake, Changing Faith and Second Signal at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday Global Dance Presents: Designer Drugs, Body2Body with DJ Sheppa at 8 p.m.
Uptown Arts Bar
Located at 3611 Broadway the Uptown Arts Bar Friday night, in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk, presents The First Friday Story Jam from 8 to 9 p.m. On Saturday night from 6:30 to 8:30 will be the Uptown Film Showcase. From 9:30 to 11:30 will be the Kansas City Cabaret Variety Show.
