No positive link to a person of interest has been made, however, a person fitting the description of a suspected intruder linked to the homicide of 8 year-old Leila Fowler has been detained in a separate incident.
Jason Weyrynen is not yet linked to the homicide of eight year-old Leila Fowler in Valley Springs, Ca. as of this time. As initially reported at usedview.com on April 28, 2013, Leila Fowler was apparently murdered by an unknown intruder. Yesterday in the city of Placerville, Jason Weyrynen was arrested on charges of Burglary and Kidnapping as reported in the booking log of the Placerville Police.
From the booking log of the Placerville Police is the description of the incident:
On 4/30/2013 at 0803 hours Placerville PD received a 911 call from 2838 Schnell School Rd #2. The caller stated that an unknown male was inside her apartment threatening to take a 15 month old child in the apartment. Dispatch was advised that the mother of the child was struggling with the suspect.
Within three minutes Placerville Police officers and an El Dorado County Sheriff’s Sergeant arrived at the scene. The officers discovered that the male was still inside the apartment and immediately took him into custody.
The officers later learned that the male subject,
Jason Wayrynen DOB 1 -16-1971, had followed the original R/P into the apartment from outside uninvited. The male subject focused his attention on a 15 month old child then forcibly took the child from its mother and held the child to the ground.
After a struggle, the mother was able to reclaim the child. The mother was able to put the child in a bedroom where other children and another adult were hiding. She closed the door and fought with the suspect preventing the suspect from making entry into the bedroom until officers arrived.
Suspect Wayrynen was booked into custody at the El Dorado County Jail on charges of Kidnapping and Burglary.
According to MyMotherlode, the Calaveras Sheriff Department has shown an interest in the incident due to the similar description of the suspect. It may also be noted that Wayrynen was most interested in the 15 month-old child in the Placerville incident, rather than any of the other residents.
No evidence trail leads to Wayrynen from the Valley Springs incident at this time. Calaveras authorities have requested a DNA sample be taken from Wayrynen, and sent for analysis to the Department of Justice Crime Lab. This person, while charged with multiple crimes, has not yet been found guilty in a court of law.
