Chris “Birdman” Andersen will be sitting one out after Thursday’s nights game five of the Eastern Conference Finals. Yahoo News reported on May 31 that the NBA changed his flagrant-1 foul to a flagrant-2 after reviewing the Chris Anderson incident. With just over nine minutes left in the second quarter, Andersen bumped chests and then shoved Hansbrough and had to be held back by officials. The all occurred after Birdman pushed Hansbrough to the ground.
Many felt that Chris Andersen should have been ejected from the game but he was not. On Friday, just one day after the game, NBA officials decided to upgrade the severity of the foul and suspend him for one game.
Anderson will sit out game six of the Eastern Conference Finals in Indianapolis. The Miami Heat currently lead the Indianapolis Pacers 3-2. If they win, they will go on to meet up with Spurs in hopes of another championship ring. If they lose, they will head back to Miami for one more game.
Many are saying Chris Andersen should have been ejected from the game but a full game suspension is too much. What do you think? Sound off in the comments below.
