“The Beta-Tests are complete and the softnet is coming any day. You gotta get the soft; it’s like surfing without the board. No screen, no mouse, no keyboard, just you and the world. It’s your world!”
The world is in a pandemic brought on by “softnet” that induces a deadly technology-induced “sleep”. Can a small group of survivors who have sought shelter in Cleveland stay awake in order to stay alive?
Cleveland Public Theatre will be presenting the world premiere of “Rusted Heart Broadcast”. Originally conceived and created by CPT’s Executive Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan and Ensemble, “Rusted Heart Broadcast brings together fast paced storytelling, original music and powerful visual elements into an epic production.
Kaysha is a Cleveland-born performer who travels to Hollywood to chase a dream. As she waits for her big break to happen she signs up as a tester by “softnet” who is developing a device free connection to the world-wide-web. Kaysha soon finds that the technology has deadly side-effects and fights for her own survival as well as the future of humanity.
Conceived over the last three years, Rusted Heart Broadcast is a culmination of a collaborative ensemble-based process which engages actors in the authorship of the play. Featuring Bobgan’s hallmark style, the show is a visceral montage of movement, music, storytelling and action that celebrates Cleveland values and the aspiration to live fully.
Rusted Heart Broadcast, directed by Raymond Bobgan, features Molly Andrews-Hinders, Dionne D. Atchinson, Carly Garinger, Sally Groth*, Faye Hargate, Jeremy P. Lewis, Chris Seibert, Adam Seeholzer and Darius Stubbs.
