You may have thought that once the school year ended, College Park became a ghost town. That sleepy summer town is about to get a big wake up call at the Barking Dog. In the heart of this college town, Friday and Saturday nights will become the biggest dance and rock festivals ever seen during the summer.
Over 35 bands from around the metro area will be performing starting at 9:00 PM, June 15th. The festivals will last until August 10th. Saturday Nights are referred to as the Dancing Dog Festival with all electronica and dance bands hitting the stage, coupled with well known area DJS. Some of the bands even had serious credentials with a national presence. Each Dancing Dog Festival ends in a giant foam party.
If dancing isn’t your thing, Friday nights will be devoted to rock and indie band lovers. Grab your favorite beer on tap, order a burger and you will be set listening to some of the coolest sounds.
The Barking Dog is typically known as the college spot on the weekends with a DJ on site, but this summer, they wanted to spice it up. Hiring DC Productions, Daryl Cline, owner and operator, and known for putting the glitz back into a venue, decided if you are going to, go big. With only a few months notice, Cline carefully selected over 35 bands that had the right sound for the festivals, after weeding through over 100 applicants.
“I did not want any band who acted inappropriate,” Cline says, “these are meant to be high energy, fun shows where everyone has a good time…and no one is offended.”
A listing of some of the bands is below. Ticket prices $12.00 at the door, but many event websites are offering a discount if you pre-order the tickets.
