Pennsylvania, one of the nation’s hotbeds of wrestling, will be in the spotlight as coaches from top Keystone State colleges are among the featured guests on Takedown Wrestling Saturday, June 29, the weekly radio show announced Thursday.
Join hosts Scott Casber, Steve Foster, Jeff Murphy, Brad Johnson, Terry Cook and Kurt Backes this Saturday 9:00-11:00 a.m. Central and 10 a.m.-noon Eastern.
This week’s special guest hosts are Joe Baranik, founder of the award-winning Pennsylvania Wrestling Newsmagazine… along with Troy Peterson, promoter of Impact Pro Wrestling, who will serve as host of the Tragos/Thesz Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum in Waterloo, Iowa in mid-July. Among the honorees: former college wrestlers “Cowboy” Bill Watts (University of Oklahoma), Chris Taylor (Iowa State), and Matt Hughes (Eastern Illinois).
The first hour of the salute to Pennsylvania wrestling opens with Joe Baranik… joined at 9:10 by Tim Flynn, head coach of the Edinboro University Fighting Scots. Then, at 9:20, the new coach at University of Pittsburgh, Jason Peters, takes the mic… followed by Mike Rogers, Franklin & Marshall’s head wrestling coach.
Cody Sanderson, associate head coach of 2013 NCAA Division I team champion Penn State, launches the second hour; Troy Letters, at the helm at Clarion, is at 10:15… followed at 10:30 by head coach Dan Wirnsberger from Bucknell, then Pat Santoro, in charge of the Lehigh mat program.
