The writers reveal a lot about Garza in this episode. She was sent to kill Alec in the future, and instead she decides to take him up on his offer to kill his younger self in the past. It’s interesting to see Garza outside of Liber8. She is doing something off the books in a way. Travis probably has no idea what she is doing. Strangely enough, Garza decides before she tries to kill Alec, she is going to catch up with him. She actually seems interested in what he has been up to. It speaks to her relationship with the elder Alec. Did you enjoy seeing Garza out on her own?
Alec grows a lot in this episode. He’s been dealing with a lot of issues since the beginning of the show, but since the show is mostly about Kiera and her struggles, Alec hasn’t had a lot of time to vocalize what he is going through. This is why it’s great to have the scene with him, Garza, and Kiera. The writers have needed to have a scene like this for awhile now. Another great Alec moment in this episode is that he points out to Kiera how similar she is to Kellog. To a degree, she realizes that she is using Alec, but it seems like in this episode she really opens her eyes. What did you think of Alec in this episode?
Gardiner and Kiera are working on the body snatching case. They even manage to be working together as in working side by side at the same exact location. Sadly, the writers don’t have Kiera spending most of the episode with Gardiner. Alec gets taken, and so she leaves Gardiner to handle things on his own. It would have been nice to have an episode featuring Gardiner and Kiera working together, similar to how Carlos and Kiera solved cases before he knew her secret. The writers throw in a giant twist: Gardiner’s dead. It will be interesting to see how this affects Kiera, and if there another threat to Kiera’s secret will pop up. Right now, Gardiner’s death is just shocking. There doesn’t seem to be a point to killing him off, but that point could easily arise in the next episode. Are you shocked that Gardiner’s dead?
