Connoisseurs of barbecued ribs and jazz music are in store for a real treat at an event that will combine both when Columbus, Ohio presents its 34th annual Jazz & Rib Fest on Friday, July 19, Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21 in the city’s Arena District. It is approximately a 2 hour drive from Cleveland to Columbus.
Columbus Jazz & Rib Fest A free, family-friendly event with activities sure to please all ages, the Columbus Jazz & Rib Fest will feature more than 40 local, regional and international jazz artists performing on three stages and 23 award-winning barbecue teams (representing 10 states and Canada) competing for the “Best Ribs” award while providing lots of finger-licking tasty food for visitors.
In addition to all the great music and all the delectable ribs, there will be a variety of other activities for visitors to enjoy including a cornhole tournament, a Columbus Crew Tour interactive area and fun for the kids at the Columbus Blue Jackets’ Bounce House.
The Festival will also feature the Big Bite Tour, an interactive exhibit offering food- eating contests, taste samples, games, music and much more. And be sure to check out the Craftsman Make a Difference Tour which will provide tools and support for home modifications for military veterans, local restoration projects and disaster relief. Visitors can learn about volunteer opportunities.
Columbus’ COSI Museum will have interactive Science Spots (Saturday only from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.) at various locations at the Festival offering an educational science experience.
Paddle in the City will give visitors the chance to rent a riverfront canoe or a kayak or new this year, a stand-up paddleboard (limited amount) and enjoy the scenery along the Scioto River.
You can be sure that there will be plenty of food in addition to the ribs available for purchase.
Hours for the Jazz & Rib Fest are 11 a.m.- 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free.
