The California State Fair is scheduled from July 12th through 28th. Set in the sunny Sacramento at Cal Expo, there are plenty of acts who will be playing the various stages during the run. Of course, the ones that I’m most excited about are our country acts. From local bands to country superstars, the fair has it all.
Lonestar with the original lead singer, Richie McDonald reunited with the band will bring their show to the main stage on July 18. Their show starts at 8:00 p.m., and runs through 9:30 p.m.. As with all shows, general admission seats are free with fair admission ($15.00 per person), but Gold Circle seats can be had for an additional $15.00 (plus $2.50 service charge).
Two Steps Down is an up and coming local country band that consists of siblings Amy, Brad and Chris showing their smooth three-part harmonies, Don on lead guitar, mandolin and banjo, and Cameron keeping the beat on drums. They’ve been playing locally for the past five years, and have worked with well-known country artists like Keith Anderson, James Otto and Steel Magnolia.
Two Steps Down will play on the Promenade Stage starting at 7:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. on July 23, and their show is included in fair admission.
Country superstar LeAnn Rimes is also playing on July 23, but on the main stage. Her show starts at 8:00 p.m., and runs through 9:30 p.m.. As with Lonestar, fans can purchase Gold Circle seats for an additional $20.00 (plus $2.50 service charge).
The soulful Randy Houser will play the final night of the fair (July 28) on the main stage. His show starts at 8:00 p.m. and runs through 9:30 p.m.. Gold Circle seats can be purchased for an additional $15.00 (plus $2.50 service charge).
Fair hours are 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Mon. through Thu, and 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Fri. through Sun.. Admission prices are $12.00 for adults, $10.00 for seniors 62 and older, $8.00 for youth 5-12, and children 4 and under are free. Parking is $10.00.
If you purchase your tickets at the California State Fair website in advance, discount prices are available at $2.00 per ticket in each category of tickets, however there is a $1.00 service fee added on, so you end up actually saving $1.00 per ticket or parking fee. Still, I prefer to have my tickets ahead of time, so I don’t have to waste time standing in line to pay at the gate.
