You may be an experienced and highly athletic cyclist. Or you may be a novice rider trying to get unto better shape. Whichever side of the spectrum you are on, you might like to ride the trail at Creve Coeur Lake.
This trail is a part of the Trail Links series of bike trails in the greater St. Louis area. In reality it isn’t just a single trail, but a series of trails that link to others in the area. The surface is entirely paved with asphalt, and it is well kept. While much of the trail is relatively flat, there are some challenging grades for the less-active biker.
Now some might think this trail would be in mostly an urban, residential area if they are familiar with the suburb of Creve Coeur. However, Creve Coeur Park is not in the heart of its namesake, but instead it is very much in a natural, rural area. Trail riders can enjoy scenes of beauty.
Part of the trail does follow next to Page Avenue, and it even goes over the Page Avenue Extension Bridge where riders can connect to the KATY Trail which runs on to St. Charles. But much of the trail circles Creve Coeur Lake which is quiet and peaceful.
On any typical sunny day, visitors can see bikers, hikers, in-line skaters, and young families pushing baby carriages among others. Often one will see sailors on sailboats and kayakers taking advantage of the rather large body of water.
Unlike some trails, once you are finished riding, you are never too far from a beverage or a dining experience. One of the most popular spots is the Boat House at Creve Coeur Lake. But make sure you know the hours before you plan because they are not open every season.
So, plan your fun-filled excursion today!
