by used view

Today, May 24, marks the grand opening celebration of Delta Air Lines new Terminal 4 at JFK Airport in New York. As the summer begins with the celebration of Memorial Day so does summer travel so it is fitting that Delta celebrates by introducing a brand new terminal experience just in time for summer fun.

The months and days before today’s opening have been packed with teasers of what to expect.

With a “countdown to takeoff” meter on Facebook Delta has invited all to share in the fun of the progress leading up to “The New JFK” opening day. Status for the arrival of the new T4 is on time and ready for passengers to partake in a terminal with 21st century amenities specifically designed to provide more comfort and convenience for air travelers.

JFK T4 has been decked out to add to a wonderful travel experience.

The terminal covers 1.5 million-square-feet and has cost $1.4 billion to transform it into a terminal ready to cater to the 21st century with nine new and seven renovated international gates along with improved and renovated check-in areas. Delta Air Lines cuts the ribbon today to welcome their passengers to share in the new plush decor “going the extra mile”, as their newest YouTube video is titled, to strive to meet the demands of making air travel a wonderful experience for those flying Delta. A virtual tour gives a taste of what is in store for those lucky enough to visit the new terminal.

Priority is the word when explaining Delta’s mission in designing for their customers.

Delta aims to make traveling in this century as comfortable as possible for those visiting JFK Terminal-4. Loyal travelers now have their own 3800 square foot Sky Priority check-in area with dedicated check-in and security services for Sky Priority and Medallion members. The 24,000 square foot flagship Sky Club is the “crown jewel” for Delta with plush new perks such as a 2000 square foot sky deck outdoor terrace designed by Architectural Digest chosen designer Thom Filicia. Other decor delights include work spaces, a bar area serving drinks and food, as well as showers suites and relaxation room for a quick refresh for journey weary travelers. Delta’s new Sky Club at JFK T4 is sure to be the prototype for any Sky Clubs to be opened in the future.

The shopping and restaurants will provide fun and comfort for those waiting for flights.

Shopping will go beyond picking up a magazine or snacks and souvenirs. Designer stores will be providing a pleasurable shopping experience to pass the time. Michael Kors, Coach, Victoria’s Secret, Thomas Pink, Solstice, Swarovski and The Museum of Modern Art are all opening up shops at T4. Restaurants to fill every craving will serve to provide delicious fare for all travelers. Danny Meyer’s Shake Shack, Blue Smoke On The Road, Uptown Brasserie and Street Food by Marcus Samuelsson, Asobu, Camden Foods, Le Grande Comptoir and Caffee Ritazza are just a few of the new eateries to enjoy a meal or treat in.

This is an exciting day for Delta, JFK and all New York travelers. The grand opening of a new Terminal-4 at JFK is a welcome sight for New York and is sure to make JFK Airport a desirable destination for those arriving and departing. Traveling through the new JFK Terminal-4 will add an additional pleasurable moment to any trip for the ultimate airport experience.
